Luis Leonardo Pacheco Zegarra is currently Head of Operations Control at Soleil Metals S.A., where he supervises and optimizes metallurgical and production processes with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and precious metal recovery. He holds a Master’s degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the prestigious Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg) in Saxony, Germany. He boasts more than a decade of experience in the beneficiation, refining, and recovery of precious and polymetallic metals, combining international experience in Europe with leadership positions in mining and metallurgical operations in Peru.
He has held key leadership positions in the industry. As Plant Manager at Consorcio Torconta Mining S.A.C., he comprehensively oversaw gold and silver beneficiation and comminution operations, participating directly in the design, construction, and commissioning of production facilities and safety protocols. Likewise, as Laboratory Manager at Paltarumi S.A.C. and Biox Metal Ingenieros S.A.C., he led cyanidation, flotation, and metallurgical balance tests, ensuring high technical and operational quality standards.
His international experience includes projects at Aurubis AG (Hamburg, Germany), a world leader in non-ferrous metals, where he participated in the innovation of silver electrowinning and copper electrolytic refining processes. He also worked at H-O-T Härte– und Oberflächentechnik GmbH & Co. KG (Nuremberg, Germany) in the industrial coating quality control department, consolidating his professional profile in top-level European environments.
Throughout his career, he has received a number of prestigious scholarships and awards, including the Deutschland Stipendium (German National Scholarship), sponsored by Aurubis AG, and multiple scholarships from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), which attest to his academic excellence and commitment to applied research.
Luis Pacheco Zegarra combines a solid technical background with skills in project management, multidisciplinary team leadership, sustainability, and critical analysis. He is highly proficient in simulation and process modeling tools, among others, and communicates fluently in Spanish and German, in addition to having an intermediate level of English.
Currently, from his position at Soleil Metals S.A., he is focusing his professional career on the refining and valuation of precious metals, with criteria of sustainability and technological innovation, aligning his experience with the strategic vision of the OCIM Group in Peru, which is focused on consolidating its leadership in the responsible trade and financing of gold and silver in Latin America.
