As a central link between artisanal and small-scale miners in Peru and international markets, Soleil Metals plays an important role in driving the sustainable formalisation, legitimisation and professionalisation of the artisanal value chains. Through its activities, Soleil Metals aims to accelerate the transformation of the Peruvian ASM gold sector by maximizing its impact on local communities, whether in terms of safety, environmental protection, or economic development.
Since 2024, Soleil Metals has been also participating through its parent company OCIM in a support initiative set up by the Swiss Better Gold for small miners in the Arequipa region of southern Peru. The initiative comprises a training program aimed at improving the health and safety conditions of artisanal miners and an insurance program designed to reduce the economic insecurity of workers and their families by covering them against a wide range of risks.
