Oscar has over 20 years of experience in the mining sector and the Peruvian capital market. His professional career has focused on business development in the mining and financial sectors, in addition to carrying out his duties in terms of compliance. His contribution to the OCIM Group companies has been key to achieving accreditation with Swiss Better Gold and planetGOLD, while also contributing to the evaluation of business opportunities in mining.
Since 2012, he has been a director of the Canadian junior company Peruvian Metals Corp (TSX-V: PER), where he has contributed to the preparation of agreements to bring strategic investors into its exploration projects, reaching agreements with various mining companies and investment funds. He also led the commissioning of the Aguila Norte processing plant, which provides processing services to artisanal miners for the production of concentrates.
In the financial sector, in addition to his experience in the banking sector, he served as General Manager of DIVISO Grupo Financiero and DIVISO Bolsa SAB until 2012, where he managed investments focused on the mining sector.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) and a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).
He also has extensive teaching experience spanning more than 10 years in postgraduate programs focused on the mining sector. He currently teaches in the Master’s in Mining Management program at the GERENS Graduate School, as well as in various specialization programs at GERENS and FRI ESAN in courses on mining finance, mineral marketing, and mining asset valuation.
Aware of Peru’s potential for the responsible supply of gold through small-scale and artisanal mining, he hopes to contribute through OCIM to the process of mining standardization in Peru and the generation of sustainable development in the various production areas.
